time to give
Give your time to something you're passionate about, using CHAACo's resources to support your work.
Project leaders: Define your project's scope and benchmarks, coordinate your project team's efforts, help recruit project assistants and other contributors, and be responsible for getting project phases across the finish line to produce a sharable resource for the community. We encourage you to attend some CHAACo Steering Committee meetings to discuss progress, priorities, and your project’s needs.
You can propose a project that aligns with our mission, choose among a large list of projects and ideas that we have compiled, or help lead a current project. We can also help you choose one based on interest and urgency.
Project contributors: A great way to make a valued contribution without needing to lead or attend Steering Committee meetings. Collaboration helps us follow through on our goals, strengthen our projects with a diversity of skills and perspectives, and avoid burnout! Please consider supporting an existing project.
CHAACo will support projects with our website, database, shared google drive and communications server, our mailing list communications, and time to discuss projects at our periodic meetings. At our current capacity, any new project must start with a commitment from several new volunteers to help make it a reality.
For more about our projects, send us a message!
Help us with the ongoing work of CHAACo's infrastructure, maintaining our online platforms, and more!
We would greatly appreciate volunteers for any of the following:
Become our outreach officer: help us get our resources to those who could benefit from them and develop our coalition
Become our webmaster; develop and maintain our website
Moderate our Public Resource Hub submissions (bonus: you'll be the first to see new job opportunities as they are submitted!)
Help answer our Contact Us inquiries
Help write CHAACo's public updates to share with our general mailing list, AIC, and other related communities
Help manage CHAACo's Google Drive of resources and collaborative documents
Help expand our profile to reach more of the cultural heritage community
Be a pinch hitter: step in as needed to help projects that need more support
If you have expertise related to our mission and are open to being consulted or speaking to the community on your topic, we'd love to hear from you! Examples:
fundraising, grant writing, and development
legal expertise
organizing volunteers
effective communication with policy makers
If you are a member of an allied organization, help both organizations coordinate by attending our meetings and relaying information about projects and needs. You can also share our periodic CHAACo public update messages in the communication channels of your other organization.
Join CHAACo's leadership team! This new structure will give CHAACo the leadership and administrative team to make bold, agile decisions. Roles will be defined yet flexible so members can move confidently on their commitments and request support as needed. We are working on a proposed structure to implement Summer of 2026.
By joining:
You will help steer CHAACo's priorities, projects, messaging, branding, partnerships, and more!
You commit to spending at least 1 hour per week on CHAACo leadership endeavors, such as contributing in steering committee and general meetings, helping draft CHAACo communications, pitching in on group-effort "sprints" to give a boost to active projects, Discord engagement, event planning, and development efforts.
Bonus:
You can build your leadership skills with us.
No FOMO! You can be in the room where it happens.
We've found that in-person events and conversations are by far the best way to build trust, lasting connections, and support for CHAACo. Our small volunteer team can't be everywhere (or most places!), so an easy and extremely valuable way to help CHAACo get the word out is to print copies of our flyers to distribute wherever you have the opportunity!
You can leave a stack on a table at events where attendees already have a connection to cultural heritage, or hand them out and engage with people in person.
Our Immigrant Solidarity and ICE Preparedness flyer is formatted for inexpensive DIY printing in both color and black & white:
