About This Survey
This anonymous survey is for anyone who works, volunteers, or does contract work on site for a cultural heritage-related organization in the United States.
The purpose of this survey is to gauge self-assessed needs and preparedness for immigration enforcement (or "ICE") encounters at GLAM-sector workplaces. (GLAM is short for "Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums" and includes a spectrum of related organizations, such as zoos and cultural centers.)
The results from the survey will be used internally to help CHAACo (us) tailor our efforts to serve the urgent needs of cultural heritage communities in the United States.
We are interested in gathering qualitative, not quantitative, information, and we recognize that any participant may have limited perspective on their organization's decision-making. We also want to be inclusive of experiences, perspectives, and circumstances that were not anticipated by our survey team. For these reasons, best guesses and inexhaustive answers are completely acceptable, and we have kept some questions intentionally broad or open to participants' interpretation.

For your privacy, this survey is anonymous and end-to-end encrypted, hosted via CryptPad.org, an open-source encrypted platform. To ensure your anonymity, we do not request names, email addresses, personal identity-based information, or other uniquely identifying information, and we do not collect IP addresses. If we come to believe that any submitted answers are personally identifying or provide information about undocumented status, we will anonymize or delete those specific answers in our records within one month of discovery. While CHAACo may share insights gained from the survey, for the safety of our communities, full data sets and complete written answers will not be published.

CryptPad Forms can be a bit glitchy! Our apologies, we're on a tight budget and prioritized security over a flawless interface. We've noticed a few bugs:
If, when you try to follow a survey link, you receive the message "Uncaught TypeError: cannot read properties of undefined (reading keys)", CryptPad is having trouble decrypting the survey. It may be associated with your particular access session and/or browser cookies. We've found it works to open the survey link in a private/incognito window or a different browser.
If you see automatically added, confusing "helper text" (e.g., "maximum 14 answer(s)"), please ignore it and refer to the end of the question itself for clearer instructions (e.g., "(Select all that apply.)").
Within the survey, two test users found that the page starts to jump up to a previous question after clicking certain responses, but most sessions had no problem. If it happens to you, we would appreciate it if you tough it out and keep scrolling back down! It'll be over soon!
If you leave a tab with the CryptPad survey open for too long, you might find that you are forced to refresh, which means you will lose your progress. We recommend doing the survey in one sitting.
